A Corner of the World

– Cecilia Ho 2008

The world grows louder. Hardly a place left for people to simply be together.

I paint quiet corners with a single brushstroke — abstract, poetic, alive. A tree. A moon. A rock. A boat. Nothing more. Each scene is barely there, yet enough.

These are not landscapes but gestures of shelter. A father and daughter on the field. Lovers by moonlight. Friends sharing silence on an empty shore. Across the paper, figures gather in separate corners — each tucked into their own pocket of stillness. Space breathes.

What is not painted matters as much as what is. These corners are small sanctuaries — somewhere between memory and imagination — for quiet connection, hidden from the noise.
